Suggestions for taking pics of makeup

i started out with a fujifilm a310 digital camera (if i recall correctly), noticed it wasn't too great with taking pics that capture the color and don't wash my face (or whoever's face i'm taking pics of) out.

i then bought a nikon coolpix 5600 and it works great, but it washes the face out, can't see color, nothing. i tried the macro mode, but same thing. i tried portrait, same thing.

any tips on how to choose the right camera for taking close-ups of faces? i heard canons are the best for it, but i'd like to make sure first.

i also tried to search before starting a new thread, but no luck! if there's already a post on this, i'm sorry. please steer me in the right direction ;)

I don't think the camera is the problem. It's probably your light, or your exposure. If you say it "washes the face out", it sounds to me like you might have really overexposed the shot. What I would suggest is learning a bit about photography, and having a go at it again. I really good place to learn about basic exposure and camera functions is photo.net, and this url specifically:
