Ok today I saw a Halo around the sun today it had a rainbow effect and I am told this Ice in the clouds that are way up high.Does anyone know how I can get a photo of this should I get to see it again?

Essentially you need to create an artificial eclipse, so things near the Sun can be photographed.

A think, black, round piece of paper the right size (just a tad larger than the size as the Sun as seen in the viewfinder) attached to the exact middle of your lens would work. Like the black disk in this photo - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Halo_and_sun_dog_-_NOAA.jpg

Without having to actually "eclipse" the sun, the easiest way I can think to do this would be with some HDR techniques. Shooting directly into the sun you're going to want to expose so the sun isn't blown out, this might be at EV -5 or higher! Shoot at 1 EV stops until you feel you've gotten the entire range exposed properly, maybe +2 or so. Merge into HDR and hopefully you'll get a nice image with everything properly exposed, sun included.

Just do us all a favor and don't go crazy with the colors/HDR effect in post ;)
