Sun Help

I have been filming a lot of hs sports(lax) lately. I havent touched my nikon in a while. I hope it remembers me. Anyways, I have been shooting a lot of games around 4:00 PM which is mid day and the sun is god awful. Does anyone have a suggestion for filming in the sun as far as seeing proper exposure and the lcd. I know I can buy a sun shade and they are ok but Im at the point where I want to bring an EZ up tent to games.

Anything that has helped you would be great. This one guy rigged up an old umbrella. It was a good idea but Im looking for something more than a sun shade if there is anything.
