Sun rise!

Here are two shots of the sun rising that I took while on Heron Island.

Any comments appreciated.

I think with the Second shot i should crop some of the bottom out?

I think the first one might benefit from a tighter crop - the reds around the sun look great, but there's too much black all around. I'm not sure about the second one - there's something missing, I just don't know what it is kudos to you for getting out so early, I'm lazy so I only shoot sunsets

The first one is way to dark. I looked at it closer in Photoshop but because it is so dark there is just not enough image data (and a lot of noise) to make any half decent looking edits.

They both seem too dark to me. Even more so #1

They are both a tad dark, but I can tell you were exposing to not blow out the sun. If it bothers you, you can look into HDR.
On #1 I also would like to see a tighter crop, get rid of all the black space.
On #2 I dont think you should get rid of the ocean, perhaps take a bit off the right to put the sun more in the rule of thirds space? Since you went dark, the water looks like it has a nice moody feel to me.
