So anyway, I broke down and upgraded again.
Bought the Pentax ring flash to go with my rig.
It's elegant. Came in its own leather case. B&H had a sale and I couldn't pass it up.
Been wanting this flash for a year. Build quality is very good. Better than I expected.
Much better.

Shot this with a Pentax K5, Pentax 100mm macro, Kenko 25mm AF extension tube, and a Raynox 250.
At risk of sounding , not too modest, my rig is quite nice.
And we all now about me and modesty. It's my most redeeming feature.

Only 20 minutes.
As I peered into my deep blue eyes.......nevermind.
I couldn't take it anymore so I cut it short of the usual hour and a half.

I say until we see a picture you're just blowing smoke. For all we know this could be the case!

Intentionally soft.

That is not me.
That is Homer Simpson.

Well my dear, there are many reasons, but mainly because I said so.
lol.
If I posted my picture here, I'd be more wanted than I already am.

What do you mean, I thought we had no fans here :(

:lmao:

What?
I'm not talking about here. This is the Internet.
I'm worldwide now baby.

Your getting more DOF than I would expect with that rig; what f stop were you using?

My Raynox will not mount to my 100mm SMC macro Takumar (49mm), I would need a 49 to 43mm step-down ring.

F32.......I was maxed out on the fstop.
It was kinda a test because I wanted to see how bad the diffraction would be from the Pentax Macro. I was surprised.

The way that works with your Takumar ( I think) You need a 49mm to 52mm Step UP ring.
The raynox has a 49mm filter thread ( front element). The other end is a 43mm.
( the end closest to the lens, rear element 43mm)

You need a step up ring, then clamp your raynox onto the 52mm step up.
From there, you would use another step up ring/ring flash adapter on the front element of the Raynox 49mm.

My rig looks real technical with all this stuff mounted on it. But it's very secure with nothing flopping around.

I could have gotten this better but I didn't have time.
The lens was at its closest working distance, which is about a half inch with all this stuff.

Pretty good for f32. Try some focus bracketed shots and post more.
