Im buying a T2i very soon that comes with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, somebody is willing to sell me their 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS for $50 shipped with a filter and circular polarizer, is that worth it? Should I put my money into a another lens? Im just looking to pick up a cheap lens to start.

Will the prime suffice or should I get both to start? Should I invest the money into another lens? I will be shooting skateboarding, snowboarding and landscapes.

Get both; the 50 will be a bit long (80mm) on crop for a walk around.
Standard for skateboarding would be a fisheye; there are some decent cheap option for that - manual focus will never be an issue with those as they are so wide.
Landscapes; wide end of kit is 28 equ. so that with polariser goes pretty well for a cheap set up (most landscapes on my flickr are 550D + kit lens @ 18mm - a few of the more recent are with a Hoya CPL too).
