Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and fairly new to photography. I just had one question.... If I am in a shaded area with my camera taking pictures of the outdoors, (in the sunlight) would a flash be necessary since the camera and the lens are in a shady area? I would be pretty far from my target and would require to zoom in. I just wondered since I will be zooming in, will my camera and lens use the sunlight from my target?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Hi,

Your camera will get its light from what your taking a picture of, not where you're standing. And with a zoom lens your subject will probably be too far away for a flash to have any effect.

Have Fun,
Jeff

I was thinking that flash would be too far, but wasn't sure about the lighting til now. Thanks Jeff!
