I'd like to have a decent walk around lens. I am considering the 17-35mm F2.8. I already own a 24-70 F2.8. Is the 17-35mm lens different enough as compared to the 24-70mm?

What are the pros and cons of the 17-35mm F2.8? Yes, I have read the Kenrockwell as well as a few other reviews. Just thought someone here might have experience with this lens.
Thanks

What camera are you using it with?

the 17-35 f/2.8 is the old "trinity" nikon wide zoom lens. it is a FF lens, unlike the DX 17-55 f/2.8 version.
its a pro grade nikkor lens. Older sure, but no less a pro lens.
im sure its not quite as good as the newer 14-24 f/2.8 with the nano coating, but its also a lot less expensive.
if your looking for a good wide angle zoom, you cant go wrong with the 17-35.

Well, if you want to use it primarily for your DX bodies, I'd take a long look at the new Sigma 18-35 f/1.8...But that's me.
