teleconverters: 1.4 vs 2x

Hey guys,

I was thinking about getting a teleconverter to go with my dream lens (70-200 2.8 L) Any thoughts on the 1.4 vs. the 2x? Anyone out there use either of these?

I have the 1.4x TC. It works great. There is very little to no image distortion or loss of quality. You lose 1 stop of light however, with the 1.4, and 2 stops with the 2x, so your 2.8 becomes a 4, or 5.6 respectively.
