Just showing these two photos (remember these are test shots). They are both of the same area and both were shot wide open at their shortest focal length (28mm or around 45mm view area because of my Canon 1000D's APS-C sensor) . Both used the same custom WB and were shot as JPG in-camera. No post-processing done outside of resizing so I can fit within the attachment size limit.
This first photo was shot using the AF Nikkor 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5:
This second photo was shot using the TOU/FiveStar MC Auto 28mm f/2.8 prime:
None of my current lenses look like this when wide open as they all have severe CA. These ones have the slightest bit of CA, so little so that I doubt anyone would really notice. So thank you BrianV. I know these will be staples in my camera bag from now on.
