This is Clucky, a.k.a. The Cluckster a.k.a. The Clucking Woodpecker.

He's actually a red-bellied woodpecker. But he makes a clucking sound similar to a chicken when he's hanging around and/or eating, kinda like a crazy homeless person mumbling to themselves. I think there is a slightly insane look in his eye...

He is a favorite visitor and is willing to share the feeder with other birds. The squirrels love him, too since he sprays seeds all over the place while digging for favorites.

We have a very chubby squirrel that chases everything off from feeders. Even the blue jays are scared of it.

I have a single-pump solution for that....

Great capture. I love the vibrant color of his eye!

Thanks.
But I can't help but see madness in that eye.
He really is a favorite character and, according to my girlfriend, now makes a ruckus when the suet basket (his favorite spot) is empty.

Cute little guy

Great shot, the cluckster knows a good thing when he sees it. :)

Other than the Pileated woodpecker, he's the largest in my area. We get Clucky along with downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and white breasted nuthatches. I've seen a northern flicker but don't have good pictures of it. The s.o.b. was perched such that a branch was crossing its face.

One of the reasons we like him so much is that, despite his size, he's not a bully at all.

Oddly enough, I have hardly seen the female who I have named Bride of Clucky.

As humans, we aren't so different. I used to make a ruckus when I found the fridge empty of beer. Thankfully though, my bike can do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds so quick beer runs quickly put a smile back on my face.
"Bride of Clucky", LMAO! Excellent one! I like your imagination.

Nice! I love the woodpeckers. They add character to the feeders.
