The Coffee House

Overcast, upper 60's today. I took a load of cardboard (mostly truck stuff that was delivered) to the recycling drop off.

"Window" shopping for tires. Our preferred brand has just come out with a new model of All Terrains that behave on the highway, plus they are "Three Peak Snow Flake" rated, which just means they do better in lighter snow than All Seasons, but not as well as "real" snow tires. Ultimately, whe we go north, I'll get a set of dedicated snows, and probably chains. I have a spare set of wheels.

MLW is working the back 12 tonight. MLSIL stayed home this weekend so in a few hours, it's just me and the kitty. I may ho find some mud to drive throuhgh a few times. We have a St Jude benefit JeepFest next weekend and one of the show caegories is "Dirtiest Jeep." I’m thinking about the dirt roads that run beside the C&D Canal.

Driving on snow is nerve racking, I'd hate that to be a near daily thing for 3 months Mr. Only driven on it once on a dirt road in a front wheel drive toyota camry with normal allround tires.

Got me stuffed how i managed to get that far up the mountain and turn around without getting stuck. Or another vehicle coming the other way on a 1 lane track😱.

Never pulling that stunt again without chains.

Ps. Only had 1km to go untill i reach the car park😅.

Lately I've been using a cheap camera (Nikon 1 S2) for quick & dirty sky pics. The irony is that it is too difficult to turn off the Auto-Focus, so I always include some foreground. Then again, having the foreground reminds me of the situation, so that's good.

Hi all
How is everyone today/yesterday/ tomorrow. Depending on your time zone/ temporal displacement
Here is non stop today, the g kids and great grand kids have descended..... HELP
Chat later, I may be sane then...... no hope lol

I feel a bit bummed. Friday I was contemplating taking the listing down for my Nikon and just keeping it. But I was going to give it until Monday. It sold last night so I guess its going to a new home. Maybe I'll buy a different camera at some point, maybe something I never had before since this year has been about trying something new!

Good morning! It's in the mid-60's right now, will get to about 82F today. Off to help clean-up and oraganize a community food pantry shortly. Contemplating another walk, but I have to mow to keep the HOA happy, then break down cardboard boxes for bulk pickup, then do some work on my aquarium, so probably no walk today.

Perfect September weather in the forecast for this week. Sunny, dry :)icon_cheers: ), temperatures up into the 80sF and dipping into the 60sF every night. Fall-like! Yay!

Sadly, laundry rules the day today. Hubby is likely to find some football to have on as background noise.

Happy rest of the weekend!

F-ing COLD this a.m. 40F isn't fair this early! Dipped into cold weather recipes last night. Ina Garten's mushroom mac and cheese hit the spot. Sorting thru the Steampunk Festival files from Saturday. Strategizing for the large fall clean-up at the family ruin that always makes me feel like a medieval serf...

@cgw wasn't much warmer at 6 am 42 degrees. Popped out in pj's and t-shirt to take Phoebe out. I was shivering bad by the time I got back in.

It’s a start. I already have a drive-through car wash paid from getting gas; just need to get there before the end of the month.

This was four times through the same puddle at different speeds. The last one splashed a little on the inside, so next time, leave the tops on. Still, I smiled the whole drive home.

Well, the day went for good to meh pretty fast. The canister filter on my aquarium started making the kind of noises one does not want to hear. Completely disassembled and cleaned (saved the water that contains the good bacteria) and then put it all back together. Primed it with the old water, because I don't want to lose the beneficial bugs that help clean up the ammonia. Plugged it in, and got a lot of noise, but no flow. Double checked by manually priming the pump, but no go. Dropped some dosh for a new cannister pump, same model so that I could use the parts that were still good as spares. Used the old water again, plugged it in, and VIOLA! it was working again. Did get to break down the cardboard and put it out for bulk collection, but the lawn will have to wait. I'm pooped.
