The Coffee House

MPB was consistently offering more than the others when I sold a few things last year. Also they rated something higher than I had once they inspected it and gave me more than agreed to. But best money is to sell to another person direct if you can. I used marketplace and Facebook groups to sell some Nikon gear and got more than the resellers offered. I priced halfway between the used prices online and what I was being offered by MPB.

Miss Harlie is a super shedder. I vacuum just about every day. Last time we brushed her we were joking that we could have made a whole other dog with the fur.

We are in severe drought here. Have had no rain for many weeks. Rain barrels are empty and plants are sad. Have been watering every other day. The cool nights tend to dry out the soil quickly.

Yesterday was my last day of work and I am officially retired. My alarm clock didn’t get the memo and woke me at 5 wanting to go outside and chase squirrels.

Hoping we get some rain this week!

All - haven’t been around much. It was a busy couple of weeks winding down to retirement. Had to train a few people and offload all my projects and reports. Wrapped up at 12 yesterday. Celebrated last night with my family and today I’m going to chill with a pedicure and a movie - Beetlejuice! Happy weekend Hosers!
Congratulations on your retirement! I was looking at my 401K, but I still have a couple of years to go to hit my target.

I've joked that we should collect Daisy's hair and comb it like wool and make a sheltie hair throw blanket.

I'm too much of an introvert to deal with people directly, especially total strangers. I had an amount in my head, and the camera would go to the offer that met or beat what I was thinking. I like that they pay for shipping and insurance, and overall, the process is fair. I will find out Monday or Tuesday if they think the conditions of the items are better or worse than what I stated.

:icon_cheers: Congrats!! Happy retirement!

Harlie will have to get used to the new schedule. You'll figure it out together. :) It will really hit home on Monday!

Happy weekend, hosers! We've been incredibly busy with the house and yard the last several days. The drenching rains that drowned 3 of my ilex bushes (starting to look like more are fading) have long disappeared and it's been very dry. But that's typical for September. Several perennials have also died and we're trying to salvage what we can out there, and tidy it up. Ugh!

Hubby painted the house trim and front door. We had a new storm door installed yesterday. We're meeting with our tile installer on Monday to retile the front entrance - original tile still there, from 1950 - and yeah, it shows.

Going to be fun, but lots of intrusion and mess. The cats run and hide.

Otherwise, it's been beautiful weather, low 80sF and plenty of sun. I love late summer. :586:

@SquarePeg congratulations on retirement. One of the first things youll notice is you no longer look forward to weekends, cause everyday is weekend 😁

Congrats Sharon.

We are very likely flying up to Maine next week to look at a house. Not saing any more right niw because I don’t want to jinx it.

Jeep thing today; did a quick snap with phone of another visitor: a spotted lanternfly.

GP brother-in-law just tested + for RSV from his clinic rounds. Not so bad but concerns for isolating his frau who regularly visits our 96 year-old clan chief along with my spouse. Jeesh... Anyone on TPF got an island they'll sell cheap?
Lots of the clan in medicine soldiered through the pandemic infection-free, so this one was a surprise.
RSV uptick at Toronto's "Sick Kids" as The Hospital for Sick Children is popularly known.

Once my arms recover from the flu and covid jabs, I'll schedule for RSV since I'm in that age group. Already knocked the shingles shots out a couple of years ago. As for islands for sale, there are several for sale off the coast of Maine, and a couple of them even come in under USD 1 Million.

Lounge room is pretty much bunny wool free now, little buggers.

Pork belly and baked spuds with Italian herbs, onion, diced bacon and grated cheese for dinner + a big pot of boiled mixed veggies.

Ps. And a pan fried egg.

Change the channel.
Fox News is an oxymoron. Fox News is listed by the FCC as an entertainment channel. Taking anything they say as "news" per se, is opening yourself to ridicule. I agree with Sharon, change the channel!

Flying into Boston/Logan Thursday morning, then a rental car to Maine for a house tour. Prepared to make a deposit if it looks good. In a nutshell: much older house but seems to be well maintained, lakeside, 3 bedrooms, one bath (need an additional), either a small garage or a large shed, city water and sewer, about 3/4 acre. There would be some projects, but it looks promising. We'll head back thursday night.

@SquarePeg Congrats on your retirement!!! Harlie may have to adjust to you being under foot LOL. Just in time for all the photos of your beautiful Fall in your area.

The 2nd dose of the Shingles vax was a killer. I had extreme chills with 5 blankets. I kept reminding myself of how my uncle suffered with shingles for many years and that got me thru the 24 hour pain. Got the Covid vax earlier this month and waiting until the end of Sept. for the flu shot.
