The Holga is back

It was recently announced that the manufacture of Holga cameras was discontinued and the molds were destroyed but Freestyle now says the camera is back and being manufactured at another factory.

I'm glad it's in production again. It's a really fun little toy. I have one already, and while it's nice that I now have a chance to get a back up, how many Holgas does one need, really?

I'd be much more excited for instant pack film to come back.

Yeah, I wasn't that excited about it either.

I missed this thread earlier, but I can say I'm also happy that it's back in production. I do have one, but I know it's said that, since they're so cheaply made with both plastic bodies and lenses, that small variations between cameras are common, which can make for more or less vignetting. The one I have gives a mild vignette, which I have to burn in if I want it more pronounced on enlargements. The one a friend owns, same model, gives a much stronger vignette.

I happen to think the vignetting and that lone "sweet spot" of sharp focus in an otherwise soft frame is what makes the Holga so uniquely fun to shoot. I'm likely to pick one up from this new batch next year. I have no doubt Freestyle will let us know when they're in.
