Sorry for posting even more deer pictures but thats been my main project over the last month or so! The weather has been great for the last few days but I have been working. Today I finally had a day off and despite a stinking cold I decided I was going to make the most of the nice weather. I spent the last 2 hours of daylight in Richmond Park in a field photographing a small gathering of deer. The light was nothing short of beautiful, and the nearer the horizon the sun got the more golden the light became.
All shot with D200 & 200-400 VR tripod mounted.
And finally my favourite shot. The sun was very low here and was casting shadows in to the field. This deer was facing away from me but was standing in a pocket of light between two shadows (which you can see in the foreground/background grass) but was facing away from me eating. I knew this could be the shot of the day for me as the rest of the shots were fairly standard issue I thought. Finally after lots of waiting a jogger on the path up ahead caused him to look over for a few seconds and I took the opportunity, I also got a landscape version but prefered the portrait...
I hope you enjoy
