Sorry for posting even more deer pictures but thats been my main project over the last month or so! The weather has been great for the last few days but I have been working. Today I finally had a day off and despite a stinking cold I decided I was going to make the most of the nice weather. I spent the last 2 hours of daylight in Richmond Park in a field photographing a small gathering of deer. The light was nothing short of beautiful, and the nearer the horizon the sun got the more golden the light became.

All shot with D200 & 200-400 VR tripod mounted.

And finally my favourite shot. The sun was very low here and was casting shadows in to the field. This deer was facing away from me but was standing in a pocket of light between two shadows (which you can see in the foreground/background grass) but was facing away from me eating. I knew this could be the shot of the day for me as the rest of the shots were fairly standard issue I thought. Finally after lots of waiting a jogger on the path up ahead caused him to look over for a few seconds and I took the opportunity, I also got a landscape version but prefered the portrait...

I hope you enjoy :)

I have to agree with you, the last one is my fav as well. They are all good though.

your right... this is the most beautiful golden light!.... excellent shots... the warm light really works well for these type of nature shots...

now, i was gonna go for number 2 for a POTM nomination (although its a tough choice).... but i'll put in your favorite.... cuz any of these is a good choice

I'm with Arch. I think the #2 is awesome. It has the beautiful golden light like the others but the moment of capture is very unique. You could maybe crop a bit of the dead space on the right, but it is a great shot.

I like the 1st one the best here.. Well done...

Very nice. #2 is a great capture...but I like the lighting and dof in #4 best.

the best ones so far!

that really is some lens

Very nice captures, great light...and the last one is amazing!

Thank you all for your kind words (and also the POTM nomination!!).

I knew when I arrived at the scene I had the potential to get some great shots so I'm glad I managed a couple of good ones :)
