The new 50mm f1.2 USM L vs 85mm f1.2 USM II L

So, if you had the money, and the new 50mm was already available now, which lens would you get?

That's a tough one. Probably the 50 because on smaller sensors it would like an 80mm and still would be a 50 on full-frames.

Up until people have the opportunity to try it out.. its all speculation.

So at this time, it comes down to which focal length do you like... 50mm or 85mm? Thats like asking whether or not you like bananas or oranges.

I personally prefer 50mm on a full frame... but there's gotta be more than the difference between f1.4 and f1.2 to convince me to drop that type of cash.

i'm not going to make a choice until I know the optical performance of the new 50.

those are also two completely different focal lengths when you think about perspective and such...at least for portraits (IMO). I really like the 85mm focal length on full frame, so I might still go with the 85 1.2 II...if price wasn't an issue. if the 50 is as good as the 85L and 35L optically, except with fast focus, i'd probably go with the 50. i need my fast focus
