FinePix F700 Digital Camera
The first consumer 6.2 megapixel (S-pixel: 3.1 million, R-pixel: 3.1 million) digital camera.

Ok so does anyone know what they mean by S-pixel and R-pixel? I thought it might be a combination of effective and recorded pixels but that would make no sense unless they were trying to pull a fast one which I doubt they would try to get away with.

So does anyone understand the difference between S-pixels and R-pixels and the significance thereof?

yupp - this camera has 6.2 million photodetectors (3.1 million pairs), they use pairs of photodiodes to capture a better image. This is not the effective amount of pixels (which is 3.2 MP).

Does it make the quality better? I would definitely look very close at sample images and wait for a few reviews since this camera is not exactly what I call cheap. Read more here:

Put a few bucks on top of that and get a 6.3 MP (the real deal) Canon Digital Rebel (same sensor as 10D) - a digital SLR - a camera!
