This vine feels strange

Was next door this morning doing some yard work for my neighbor and decided to pull the vines off the fence next to his property. I almost grabbed these by mistake.:mrgreen:

Thanks Trevor & Joel for commenting. These two were mating and nothing much disturbs them during that. At first I wasn't going to shoot these as they are very common around my house and I've got different images of them. As I kept pulling vines off the fence and shaking it and the snakes along with it they stayed there so I decided to grab the camera and take a few shots. They're rather harmless Joel. I suppose one would bite if threatened but I don't know how much pain that would cause.

Yes Rick these are the Chicago garter snakes which are a subspecies of the common garter snake common to the Chicago area according to Wikipedia. I didn't know there was a garter snake specifically called a Chicago garter snake until another member of this board pointed that out several months ago.
