Well...I wasn't published in print. It was online...but still...

The Advocate picked up my photo essay about a local drag queen. Pretty exciting. Not like I got paid or anything since I wasn't working for them and, I mean, it's not in the ACTUAL magazine, but it's still nice to think that maybe more people are seeing my stuff.

That was a solid essay and totally deserved to be picked up. I'm glad to see you got the recognition you earned, even if you weren't looking for it!
 
It's nice to get the recognition. But... look at the bottom of the website, and how many other sites this company owns - they seem to be a business and are making money from advertisers and subscribers.

Many companies and websites seem more than glad to use someone's photos and written work if they obtain usage for free. That doesn't seem to value your time or talent. Some sort of compensation/payment would be appropriate to expect from a business.
