Todays shoot, contrast

Well, the photos look highly compressed and quite small on Photobucket...it's hard to "see" much at the size they are hosted. That's one of the things about photos shown on-line: some hosting sites add a sharpening pass, others do not; some sites seem to ignore color profiles, others do not. SO...the way the photos are prepared for the hosting site needs to be considered. SOme sites show originals quite nicely, like pBase, but ruin the smaller-sized versions with re-sampling routines that just KILL the quality.

Anyway...Flickr is better than your current host. As far as the photography: you are leaving too much top space on many images--too much sky, not enough feet and lower legs. The two models are pretty hot, but the lighting is backlighting their faces on many shots, so they are not shown all that well. Overall, these look a bit haphazardly framed. I'd suggest looking at some swimwear catalogues to get a better idea of how to pose two swimwear-clad models; some of these look kind of soft-porn-like. What exactly, are you going for, thematically?

Anyway--on the strongly backlighted shots: I would much rather see the background over-exposed and blown out, and the faces in the shadows lightened and rendered perfectly. That would be my preference. Normally, the idea is to "peg" the highlights, and let the shadows fall where they may, but on blonde swimwear models, I think it looks much better to render the shaded side of the model's face and body properly, and let the highlights blow out--giving a higher-key more "beach" look to the light.

Im going to crop the images tonight, I downloaded new software that will allow me to crop. Before I just did it on the printer when printing.

Also purchased a 24in reflector today I am going to use it on the next shoot for the face shadow issue. But now I have to get someone to operate that.

I didnt advise them on the poses they just did what they wanted. I agree some of them to look kinda rounchy. But its whatever they want. When I met up with them I didnt know what they wanted to do, they showed up in bikinis and said thats what they wanted to do. Im doing all my ideas with my wife who I have alot more time to work with.

a reflector would have been nice for all.

my thoughts from the beginning. also, try to post processes these photos to have similar color, contrast and exposure to help them look more like a set rather than random snap shots.
#3 and 7 are prolly ur best shots show here.

#1. reflector or ext flash needed. too much negative space up top imo.
#2. needs post processing.
#3. prolly ur best in the set. the blonde's footwear strikes me as a bit odd. perhaps barefoot would be better for both.
#4. did you leave your reflector at home? if you don't have one, you should really consider that your next purchase. you can find decent ones as cheap as 4 combo meals.
#5. again, reflector help. also, perhaps some use of the liquify tool in photoshop.

just my two cp.

this is what the blonde's job should have been from the beginning. then perhaps have them switch out. a 24" reflector is kind small for anything more than portrait shots. and even way small for a two model shot.
