Again; shooting the items seperately may be the way to start. The background could be ok if it had it's own light. Try moving the subject away from the background. This will create less of a shadow. Make sure the background covers under and behind the subject. Seeing a seam can be a no no. Most of all; Have fun and take your time. Try as many combinations as possible.
