Total Newbie!

Hey all!

So I decided to leap into the world of photography. I am a 23 year old college student and I have always had the passion for photography. I was going to major in Photojournalism but changed my mind right before high school graduation. So now I just take random pictures with my little point and shoot camera.

I have a Sony Cybershot (7.2 megapixles). It gets the job done as far as pictures from concerts, road trips, and random nights out. However, I am really looking at getting into semi-professional photography and maybe freelancing once I graduate.

So I need all the advice and critiques on my current pictures and what type of digital camera would be best for an amateur. I've been looking at the Canon Rebels but any and all advice is welcome.

Oh yeah, I like doing a lot of macro photography. Anything that can capture the fine details and crisp colors of an object!

Buy any camera you want. Go to a store if you can, and hold various models. Play with them and see what feels right.
