Trying to get photos in the post

I think I have figured this out. I scaled this image to about 50% of it's original size, and when I uploaded it using the "Attach files" button, I got the options of using either the full image or a thumbnail. When I tried to upload an original image, all I got was a jpeg icon and no options. Instead a link to the image appeared in the post. Let's see how this goes when I post it.
