Upgrade

is it worth it to upgrade from the ist dl to the k100d, or just save up and get a far superior camera a year or two down the road?

I'd say it's not worth it. The DL to the K10d, sure, but the k100d really just gives you a bigger LCD and the anti-shake system. The Jpeg processing does seem better on the K100d but it probably doesn't matter if you shoot RAW 99% of the time as I do. So I'd say either go for the K10d and get more including 10mp and much better continuous shooting, or stick with the DL for now... unless there's something specific about the DL that you're not happy with?
