Using extension tubes

I took these two photos of Geranium buds using two different combinations of extension tubes on my Panasonic G1 with a Minolta 55mm/f1.7 hanging out front.

I love the fact this camera allows me to use some of the old glass that only a couple years ago were considered next to worthless.

Maybe a *BIT* more light from camera right, some fill light, so you don't lose the hairs on the right side of the left bud, but I like the shadow on the right bud, it's just enough.

Number two looks great to me :thumbup:

Nice detail in #2

#1 doesn't work for me with the the brown background, and there is also a fair bit of noise showing in the dark areas.

Very nice! I definitely think I will be getting extension tubes before I get a macro lens to play around with!

Thanks for the comments folks.

Gimp, I wonder if it is the texture of the cloth (blind) & not noise you see. They were both shot @ ISO 200 & cropped not that much.
