How to see Uranus with your naked eye

And so it was a week ago, and will be a week from now.
The video is pretty much hype.

Tonight, Uranus is 2,829,584,000 km from Earth.
The brightness of Uranus is very close to the limit that one can detect with their naked eye (magnitude 6), if the sky is dark enough where you are trying to look from. You would need no more than Bortle 4 light polluted night sky with no light domes in the direction of Uranus. Uranus is in Pisces and about 2.5° NW of Omicron Piscium.

A week a go Uranus was 2,830,693,000 km away and the brightness of Uranus was very close to the limit that one can detect with their naked eye. Uranus looked as big a week ago to the human eye as it does tonight and tonight we can't see any more detail than a week ago

On the 26th Uranus will be 2,978,472,000 km from Earth and the brightness of Uranus will be very close to the limit that one can detect with their naked eye.

Uranus will be in the night sky until about the end of February 2018. On February 28, 2018 Uranus will be 3,078,444,000 km from Earth.

By the way Uranus got closer to and is now getting further from Earth because Earth just caught up to and passed Uranus something Earth does once a year. It takes Uranus 84 Earth years to go around the sun once, so we pass Uranus 84 times during each 1 of Uranus' orbits.

In other words, Uranus is of a size, is cloud covered and so far away that even with a medium size amateur telescope we can't see much if anything in the way of detail. We can see it is a nice bluish color because of all the methane in its atmosphere.
