That would be my only concern. If it's safe, then you should be able to use that flash, but probably not with any of the camera's fancy TTL flash metering.

Is it Nikon dedicated? I don't know much at all about Nikon (I'm a Canon guy) so I don't know the different versions of TTL and what is compatible. Sorry.
