Here's a shot I did some weeks ago at the local kindergarten.
Natural light, flash off, handheld.

She's waiting for recess-time at the door to the playground.

A tighter crop of her face and hand. Pretty girl, isn't she?

I love it, but it needed about two stops more exposure and the bright area at camera right is distracting. The eye is drawn to the largest area of contrast in a photograph. If that area is not the subject you have lost the impact of the image.
