I love wasps. Spotted one this afternoon, so I ran inside, grabbed some extension tubes, shot, and then converted to B&W.

Added grain, I tried to bring in high contrast within the image, shifted the hues to darken the background.
Is this too much? There is just soemthing... blah about the image but I can't place my finger on it.

Thoughts? Critiques?

Although I really like B&W I think the color version of this would get rid of the blah – if this is a yellow jacket that would be outstanding.

The same picture, but with different adjustments done than the Black and White version.
Although, by posting this as contrast it is now in the wrong forum :p

I would say the color version is much better.

Than how would I obtain something nice in B&W? (Using the wasp as an example) My best B&W are portraits, I'd like to expand from that.

This would be interesting as a selective color. Black & yellow

Def the color picture for this particular image. For the b&w version I'd say take the grain out and lower the contrast lightly. My thoughts
