nice composition, but it seems to lack contrast. middle tones are missing, but it could be my monitor

No, it's the shot. I had no light to work with. I was completely covered by forest. I was lucky I got anything visible.

hmmm, I think I'd like it better minus the toned effect. You had a challenging situation here with the lighting, that's for sure. I do like your composition.

You mentioned "mid-range setting" - I assume you're referring to what we euphemistically refer to as "the focus knob". :LOL: I have found on mine that leaving it on infinity (unless I'm within a couple feet of something) gives me the best chance of capturing that "sweet spot".

Thanks Terri. I will try it next go around and post the results. I had no idea what I was doing at the time either. I kind of look at it as luck mostly.
