weathproof cameras and lenses?

I have a canon 7D, a 580ex II and I`m buying a canon 100mm 2.8L IS USM macro lens. I`ve read that they are weatherproof and I just want to know how weatherproof they really are?:mrgreen:

I'm not quite sure how weather proof they really are but i do know that they make rainsleeves that work beautifully

It depends on what you mean by 'weatherproof'.

The 7D is not waterproof, it is weather-resistant. The same goes for the lenses.
If you are looking for a waterproof camera, you may need to buy a housing for it.

What kind of element do you plan on shooting in?

I have had my camera out in the rain and snow. I am careful, but both the lens and camera were pretty wet.

You could try throwing it in a pond and turning it every few minutes to see if it works

Where did you read they are 'weatherproof'?
