Website suggestions? Photoshelter experience?

Can anyone who uses Photoshelter comment on the load speed?

I originally had a Zenfolio page, but it wasn't customizable enough, and it loaded slowly.

Currently, I have a Wordpress page. It looks pretty good, but it has a few problems:
-Someone hacked it this summer. I installed security software on the page, but now I worry about it.
-It looks and works great on my home PC with a 23" widescreen, but it doesn't look nearly as good on a 17". Things get a little jumbled and navigation in finicky.
-Finding the nexus between resolution and speed. Hi-rez images load slowly. Lo-rez images look crappy.
-Just some generalized bugginess with the theme.

I like the look of the Photoshelter Beam templates, but a few of the example pages run slowly. Does anyone have any experience with this?
