For this week's challenge we'll have a specific subject: Tired iron - pics of rust, rusty metal, rusted cars, equipment, junk, etc. Be as creative as you like with settings and processing. The tired iron can be your subject or your background. This is a great time to break out that macro lens or try various apertures on the same shot. Maybe we'll even get @tirediron the man himself to post in the challenge...

Hipster faux rusted metal not allowed! As always, new photos only for the challenge thread please - get out there and shoot.

Rusted locks of 2 breeding trays, found on our terrace.
This week it's going to be very hot in The Netherlands (86°F - 102°F) so I don't think I'll be running around with a camera, much!

When I read this assignment I immediately thought of VA County 614. On the way to the lake there is an old abandoned saw mill. This scale was interesting.

At first I tried to keep the photographer out of it:

And then I thought maybe he adds something,

Steam. Burning coal and wood to heat water which creates steam to power engine.[/QUOTE].
Is it a ‘show’ piece?

Yes and no. Yes, it is a show piece because its at a show featuring (antiquated) steam powered agricultural equipment. No, because the owner still uses it on his farm (saw mill and water pumping). He is also an expert mechanic and belongs to a depleting group of people who are into the restoration and safe operation of these yesteryear dynamic iron hulks.
