What camera for plane spotting?

Which compact camera would be the best for plane spotting ?

I'd go with a bridge camera if plane spotting is the only application. The long zoom & reasonably compact all in one packaging would be very useful, and the ultimate in IQ is not really a requirement.

They're completely useless for me though I want the ability to change round the optics, mount lenses it's not designed for...

Of course the Nikon P1000.

At least if "best" means "longest maximum focal length".

Best image quality from a compact, probably something like the Leica Q ?
