First, a disclaimer. The only portraits I've ever shot are pet portraits. Never just solo people.

A friend of mine is 7 months pregnant and asked if I would do some maternity shots for her, knowing I've never shot people and could use the exposure/practice.

My current kit for animal portraits include:
-70-300 and 55-200 lenses (I try to shoot pets at 70-85mm)
-SB-600 flash
-Various bounces/reflectors

Based on my limited experience, I thinking:
-Stay at ISO 100-200 when possible
-Avoid direct sunlight
-Stay at 70-85mm (right?)
-Pay attention to shadows and use bounce/reflector/diffuser as needed

Any other tips on shooting outdoors for a maternity shoot? I've been reading up, but curious if there's any advice people have that I may have missed.

My main concern is the lighting, as it's happening the 30th so probably overcast.

I think you're on the right track. ISO as low as possible to get the shot, WB in auto, shoot in RAW. When you get the image composed the way you want, zoom out just a little so that you're assured of not cutting anything off. Find a nice background - avoid areas where you will see people in the background, or have trees, telephone poles etc "Growing" out of the subject's head. Plan your shots and locations in advance. Good luck!
