Thought we could have an ongoing thread showing what you acquired/purchased/were gifted recently.

Anything photography related! Bodies, lenses, bags, lessons, grips, flashes, accessories, trips, etc.

I'll go first:

PeakDesign Everyday Sling 10L (black)

I'm bad with bags, in that, I tend to have a gazillion and never like any ones that I try. This should hopefully be delivered soon. I looked a several different slings, and I kept coming back to this one. I'm a sucker for their designs.

I got a really, really good deal with a 20% off coupon and a member dividend from REI. I had no idea REI sold PeakDesign products.

I have a package arriving later today. It's super exciting, and I'll post it here for all to see.

Just got a whole Peak Design system to make things easier for traveling and hiking:

PD Slide for EM1mkII
PD Slide Lite for EM5mkII
PD Captive to holster any of my cameras on backpack strap or belt
PD ArcSwiss plate to use with Slide and Captive but also seamless transfer to tripod
And today picking up a Mefoto Globetrotter tripod.

PD Captive to holster any of my cameras on backpack strap or belt
NICE! I really want to try the slide, but my BlackRapid is still going. I just dislike how much it bounces around.

I quoted this, because I have the CapturePro V2 and LOVE it. I've used it on multiple occasions and highly recommend it.

Let us know how you like the Mefoto tripod.

I have a BlackRapid that I like a lot, actually a little better than the Slide because of the way the shoulder padding is done, but I wanted something more universal and easily switchable between cameras and tripod.

And yes the Captive is fantastic! I tried it out for the first time when I went out with the Zombie's on Saturday. It was a good test because we did a ton of walking. I had the EM1 with the 300mm hanging of the backpack strap and it was comfortable and out of the way when walking around. I'll be using it a lot.

Fellow bag addict here. I have a Lowpro Sling, a Crumpler $5M Home, a Vanguard backpack and a ONA Bowery style in dark truffle leather. They all have their uses. I like the backpack for when I need hands free like hiking or traveling. I use the Lowpro when I'm taking my tablet with me. The Crumpler is nice and light and perfect for body plus 2 lenses and some accessories. The ONA I use when I want to be incognito and/or fashionable as it looks more like a largish purse than a camera bag. I bought some interchangeable inserts that I use to customize my bag for whatever I'm doing. But sometimes, I grab my big Coach tote purse and just put the XT2 and a small lens right in the inside pocket.

My latest purchase was a used, mint condition Fuji 90mm f/2 that I got from the Fuji Buy/Sell/Trade group on Facebook for $640. The lens retails for $949 so I am thrilled with the used price. It's super sharp. Can't wait to find some time to use it.

I picked up some Eneloop AA batteries and chargers for my speed lights last week. It looks like I just missed an Amazon "Deal of the Day" on these, although the difference only would've been about $10. I was burning through 4-8 alkaline batteries per week, so it definitely made sense to go this route!

Thanks for reminding me. Been meaning to order some for a while now and keep forgetting.

Very nice! I often ask my wife to hold extra lenses for me in her purse. :P One reason why I know she was very excited for me to buy a sling, lol.

I'm the same with the variety of bags. I have an old Lowepro sling, an Amazon backpack, a Lowepro hiking backpack, an old shoulder bag from probably 15 years ago, and two camera inserts (Tenba and a yellow one that I can't recall the name of but don't like as much as the Tenba). The Tenba is by far the most used, as I can put that in an Osprey backpack that I use frequently for travel. I can pack it full, and it still carries well.

That said, I'm really hoping that the PD sling is big enough for a body with lens attached, one or two additional lenses, and some light personal items/baby gear while out and about (i.e., diapers, wipes, extra change of clothes for baby, extra bottle, snack). We'll see how optimistic I'm being. :)

If it's too small for all of that, I may return and go for the 5L and designate it to JUST camera-related stuff.

What do the coloured dots indicate?

By the way if anybody knows of a Eneloop (I guess doesn't need to be Eneloop brand) charger that can charge from USB please let me know.

He probably marks them when he buys them so he is not mixing new batteries with older ones.

What do the coloured dots indicate?
Since I use them in groups of 4, I like to keep them together in rotation without having to put too much effort into it. For example, I might need to charge the ones in my key light after each use, while the ones in my fill light might be good for many more shoots between charges, since that light is typically used at lower power, if at all. By keeping them together, I avoid mixing sets of different ages down the road where some of the batteries might be as good as new, while others are nearing their end of life. I've seen some people online number each individual cell and track each charge in a giant spreadsheet - I guess if you look hard enough, you'll always find someone who takes things to the extreme. This just seemed like an easy enough method to keep matched sets. Fun fact - the dots are just from using a hole punch on a sheet of my kid's stickers (the part you throw away).
