What's new

What pulled you in?

1. I got into it about 45 years ago as a knee-high helping my dad in the darkroom.
He now uses a Sony PS, I use a Nikon DSLR and all the Graphic's, Mamiya's, Bronica's and Nikons we jointly collected sits
on the shelf along with the darkroom equipment waiting.

2. 45 years is a long time. No idea what's so ever

3. First, last and always: Scenery, landscapes and record shots are my only interest

4.Here I agree with Tim. As you can see by my film equipment list, I made the rounds. This isn't even including the Linholf's, Rolli's, Exakta and Leica's I've had through out the years. Bottom line is, Whats' better: Ford or Chevy?

1. What got you into photography? I will answer this with what made me buy a DSLR, I got tired of missing those family moments because the camera was too slow or it was too dark. I also love looking at Christmas decorations and the light shows but with standard cameras I could never really capture the moments.

2. What was the first picture you took? (Once you got into it) I charged the battery and went outside last night and got a great picture of my decorations!!!! That alone made any buyers remorse disappear.

3. What was your first interest? (Landscape, People, Sports, ect.) I will let you know. Right now it is everything

4. What brand do you prefer? (Canon, Nikon, Olympus, ect.) I bought a Canon after all my research but I am sure the other brands would make me just as happy... (Well not Sony... My handycam still turns itself back on until the battery is dead UHG)

I begged for a camera when I was a child for Christmas. We were poor, so I know my parents pinched a lot of pennies to buy me the dollar store 110. I had to be careful and not waste film and to wait when my parents had the money to develop it. My first picture was of my Aunt with mouth wide opening saying, " no!."

I was very good at Art in school, and I loved looking at my pictures over and over. I still look at those pictures.

I got my first Dslr about a year ago. I had a point and shoot until then.

My first Dslr photo was of my husband.

I don't have a favorite brand of camera, because I have experience with only one, my Sony A55. I love my Sony, but if I took photos with another brand I may love it too.

I think photos are a way to preserve time. Life goes by so fast. When I look at a photo it, I realize how fast time speeding.

Nice! Thanks for the reply!

I have a lot of respect for people like you that have been into photography for that long. In 43 years I will be able to say the same thing as you! :P

Thanks for the reply man and glad your getting into photography!

Lol it can... :P

"Reply with quote" is at the bottom right of each post. Use it, and it remove all mystery of who you are talking to.

There's also a little "add quote" or "quote mulitple" to quote more than one post in one post. :sexywink:

Only the cool people understand how the "add quote" function works. Be a cool people.

Nice story! Thanks for the comment! :D

No problem. It takes time to learn the depth of forum functions. Just thought I'd point some of them out. :D

Hello there everybody! I am actually quite interested in how everyone got into photography. It would be much appreciated if you could take the time to answer the questions! :D

1. What got you into photography?
2. What was the first picture you took? (Once you got into it)
3. What was your first interest? (Landscape, People, Sports, ect.)
4. What brand do you prefer? (Canon, Nikon, Olympus, ect.)

1. I don't remember exactly. Maybe Kodak 126 film; the cartridge, the foil bag. The process of sending the developed film off by post and awaiting the prints. (with another gratis 126 cartridge included).

2. No idea.

3. Holiday snaps (location/landscape), Museums.

4. Zeiss, Leica, Nikon, Minolta/Konica.

July 1969 was my weak moment ....that year I got accepted to Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and have been at it ever since. Photography is like a disease you never recover from.
