What titles are in your library?

I have rather a lot, though not nearly as many as I used to have before I left most of them on the other side of the Atlantic because I had so little space in my room at the Chelsea Hotel (where I lived when I came here). Many of the ones I left behind were quite rare, and the price has risen far too much to justify replacing them. I still have more books of photos than any other sort. Here is a small selection from the current collection:

Seeing is Believing, Errol Morris;
The Sixties
, Avedon;
Avedon at Work in the American West
;
Occam's Razor, Bill Jay;
New Topographics;
The Pond
, John Gossage;
Hollywood Photo-Rhetoric
, Dylan & Feinstein;
What Can We Believe Where?
, Robert Adams;
Zone System Manual
, Minor White;
Modernizing Nature, Rajan;
A Model of Order, Ian Hamilton Finlay;
Shadow Sites
, Kitty Hauser;
The Pleasure of Good Photographs
, Badger;
Nature Over Again
, Hunt;
Fashion: Theory
;
Between the Eyes, David Levi-Strauss;
Herzog on Herzog;
Classic Essays on Photography
, Trachtenberg;
Let Us Now Praise Famous Men
;
And Their Children After Them
;
The Dusseldorf School of Photography
, Gronert;
Drosscape, Berger;
Living With His Camera
, Gallop;
I Send You This Cadmium Red, Berger & Christie;
Chromophobia
;
Thoughts on Landscape
, Frank Gohlke;
The Image, Boorstin;
Psychogeography, Coverley;
Landscape Theory, DeLue & Elkins;
Portrait: Theory
;
Portraits
, Avedon;
The New West
, Robert Adams,
Measuring Color
, Hunt;
Modern Photographic Processing
, Grant Haist;
Color Management
, Green;
For Documentary
, Vaughan;
Empire of Signs, Roland Barthes;
Documentary, Barnouw;
You Love Life
, Nick Waplington;
Mirage, RichardLong;
Murmurs at Every Turn, Moore;
Land, hamish Fulton;
Diana & Nikon
, Malcolm.

That's about a quarter of them.

Wow, Buckster that is quite a list! Do you have a top 10 from your list?

I don't have any photography books yet, just Photoshop, AE & PrPro.
Here are a few:
Photoshop CS5 Essential Skills
Photoshop CS5 Visual Quickstart Guide
Art & Design in Photoshop
Photoshop for After Effects
and a recent one Canon T4i/650D Experience

Wow, Buckster that is quite a list! Do you have a top 10 from your list?
It probably depends on experience level and interest(s). For my own current interests at present, I'd say my top 10 would have to do with somewhat more advanced techniques of lighting and compositing, so I'd choose:

1. Hunter, Fuqua and Biver - Light Science & Magic
2. Eric Curry - Painting with Light
3. Matt Kloskowski - Photoshop Compositing Secrets
4. Scott Kelby - Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It
5. Dean Collins Productions - Photographic Global Notes
6. Joe McNally - The Hot Shoe Diaries
7. Hicks and Schultz - Learning To Light
8. Child and Galer - Photographic Lighting: Essential Skills
9. Joe McNally - The Moment It Clicks
10. Joe McNally - Sketching Light

If a beginner were to ask for my recommendations, my top 10 would be very different and include books focused more on the basic foundational subjects of camera and lens operation, proper exposure, composition, light and shadow. Books like:

1. The book that came with their camera
2. John Hedgecoe - The Book Of Photography
3. Bryan Peterson - Understanding Exposure
4. Jim Zuckerman - Perfect Exposure
5. Michael Freeman - The Photographer's Eye
6. Hunter, Fuqua and Biver - Light Science & Magic
7. Matthew Bamberg - 101 Quick and Easy Secrets to Create Winning Photographs

So far I have the following. Still learning lots =)

1. Digital Photography 1,2,3,4, Scott Kelby
2. Understanding Exposure, Bryan Peterson
3. The Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book, Scott Kelby
4. The Moment it Clicks, Joe McNally
5. The Photographer's Eye, Michael Freeman
6. The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 Book, Scott Kelby
7. Why Photographs Work, George Barr
8. Learning to See Creatively, Bryan Peterson

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll check out the beginner list.:)

INFINITE TITLES.

In other words, Google.

What does it mean that so many of the lists here are dominated by technical/how-to books?

These are the 16 traditionally made (paper) photo books I have:

Digitally, for reading on my tablet or a computer, I have another 237 titles, including these 10 on Kindle:

Plus another 227 titles from other digital book sources, including Google Books, Nook, Craft & Vision, PhotoWhoa, etc.

1 - 101 Quick and Easy Secrets to Create Winning Photographs
2 - A Deeper Frame
3 - A Digital Photographer's Guide to Model Releases

...ad infinitum

WOW, Buckster, I don't know whether to be suitably impressed or utterly dismayed. Not at how many titles you have, but at the fact that you actually LISTED every single one of them. Your organizational skills are clearly far, far superior to mine. But then, a turtle has better organizational skills than I do. I probably have about 30-50 (maybe more--I do love my books) photography-related books, some brand new, and some from the 70s and early 80s. But I couldn't begin to tell you what most of them are, or even WHERE many of the "real" books are--down in my basement, I suppose.

On my Kindle I have:
Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Digital Photographers
D5100 Manual
Light Science and Magic
Nikon D5100 Digital Field Guide
Tony Northrup's DSLR Book: How to Create Stunning Digital Photography
Plus several pdf books on Posing and Portrait Photography

Buckster's Top Ten list just confirmed it for me--I'm going to break down and buy a couple of the Joe McNally books. Been thinking about it, but it's time to pull the trigger. Hot Shoe Diaries and maybe ONE of the others; now I gotta decide which one.

I have a library of over 30,000 titles (yes I'm a big, big reader.) I have no idea how many are photo related but I would say less than 500. Coffee-table books. Works by other photogs...

I do know however that only one is a How-To book like you show in your photo. Can't give you the exact title, it is in a box right know, but it is a recipe book from Kodak from the days of chemistry. I keep it preciously for when I get back into a darkroom, start making my own paper and chemicals...

I love the smell of D-76 in the morning... lol.

This thread quickly degenerated into a mine-is-bigger-than-yours kind of discussion.

None of these lists of books means anything if you can't shoot pictures.
