Yes that highlights (forgive the pun) how ghastly the bokeh on the 85 1.8D is. I bought one and sold it within a week, it was as if Nikon had deliberately made the bokeh bad on this lens. It was truly ghastly stuff!

The 85 1.8G seems like an improvement but not enough to make me want it over a Sigma 85 1.4 that only costs slightly more with even better bokeh, oh yeah and you can shoot at 1.4 baby! My next lens will be the Sigg!

Y'know..I've bought almost all of my lenses used. And it didn't even occur to me to look into a used Sigma 85/1.4. If I could find one for <$800, I would CERTAINLY get that over the 85/1.8.

You can often find nikon 85mm f1.4 AF-D for around 800 used as well.
