I see it as a no brainer the other way. Buy the Mac so you can work at home and use their camera. If they don't care... take advantage of a great situation.

Computer first. You can edit on your own time. Use your own and works camera if nessassary but with a comp you have your own camera and computer, self sufficient if required.

Likely your clients don't care if you use a crop or large format for their headshots as long as they look good. A d300s can do these fine, only you would know the difference. Use the money from this work to build up to your fullframe. Just an opinion
