What's the best why to purchase Lightroom?

Before I purchase Lightroom, does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to purchase? Should I download the stand alone version straight to my Mac from the website, or would ordering from Amazon be the best route?

I assume there is no way to save a few bucks and download LR 5?

This is only my opinion. I would go with the photographers deal from Adobe. For $9.99 a month, you get the latest version of LR plus Photoshop. They update it with improvements that are not available on the stand alone versions.

I know you are right, I just really don't know that I want to pay $120/yr. I'd rather pay a one time $150, but gosh, you know you are right about updates and photoshop would be nice....maybe I will do that...

I was hesitant at first as well but I just pay the annual amount and go on. Getting the updates has been nice and having access to photoshop when you need it or just want to play is really nice.

Without this, I don't think I would ever have gotten PS because of the cost.

Probably best to just go with the photographer package. If you go to the Adobe site it is almost impossible to buy the standalone version and they are not updating it with the latest features. I still have the standalone, but expect to change over at some point and it will be good to upgrade to a newer version of PS at the same time.

If you buy LR 6 by itself, as a download or as a disc, once LR 7 is released Adobe will no longer update LR 6.
