I was looking at these sigmas and I can't tell the difference between the two. Why is one so much more than the other?

The APO edition (your second link) is the newer of the two lenses and has APO coatings on the glass - this gives it a noticable and good improvement to its sharpness. Considering that these are budget lenses their image quality is always a big compramise - and past 200mm they start to go soft. With APO coatings you get better performance and I would encourage you to go for that lens over the original

oh ok that makes sense I figured the second one had a bit more quality. Thanks guys
