The quality on the GE cameras is pretty poor. You would be better off getting a good quality low shutter count used DSLR. That's a bridge style P&S

I wasn't actually considering it. I've seen it a few times being passed of as DSLR and I knew something was up!

Not only is it a point and shoot, it's a pretty poor quality one. GE makes dishwashers and locomotives, not cameras. It's aimed at the guy who doesn't know any better.

yea.. and a built in non-changeable 15x zoom.... just like every other DSLR, right?

The new camera was a gift. Actually it's that there has been a sudden change in my financial prospects and looks like a DSLR isn't too far!
