i was just playing around with my strobe and at first i didnt really like this photo but then it started to grow on me for some reason.

anyways, which edit do you like better and as always c&c is wanted and welcomed.

The man has 'racoon eyes', or dark eye sockets. Note the sharp shadow on his right cheek cast by his right eyebrow. That shadow makes it look like bounced light that needed a bounce card to direct some light forward.

There is no 'pop' and the photo has a flat feel. The Rembrandt lighting on the background helps separate the man from the background but not the little boy.

I'm guessing that is window light comming from camera left.

The photo is disturbing, considering the mans hostile expression, the downcast, disconnected look the little boy has, and the fact the boy's eye's are not near the same level as the mans.

yea. i was trying to set a manule focus point and was thinking and took the photo via remote.
at first i didnt like the photo but something about it grew on me.
i think i also like the b&w better.

i wonder if thats what i like about it? i do have raccoon eyes mostly from 4 hours of sleep repeatedly and deep dark eye sockets.
