Which film scanner

Any recomendiations regarding older model film scanners such as Nikon's LS serie; LS 20, LS30, LS1000 and the LS2000. How old are these models and what will I be giving up compared to the current ones? Some are avaible on EBay for much less than the newer ones.

To be honest, those models just plain suck. If you're looking for a film scanner that won't empty your bank account, your best bet is to buy a good quality Epson flatbed scanner, with a transparency attachment and film holders. The results will be much better than anything you could get with the scanners you just listed.
