Hi,
I am a beginner at DSLRs and am planning to buy a nikon D5100. I am getting two combinations. One with the standard 18-55 kit lens and the other with the Sigma 18-125mm zoom lens.
Any suggestions as to which one should I go for? I primarily want to go for wide shots and macros.
Any combination of lenses other than these two is also welcome.
Also, it would be really great if you can suggest the appropriate filters too.
Thanks and Regards,

1st choice - 18-105vr outstanding image IQ for it's price range
2nd choice - 18-55vr maybe even a smidgin tad sharper and great price performer.

For wider or macro lenses are more expensive. So would hold off on those until you define your needs more. And getting a handle on your new camera to learn with. If needing more zoom range than 105vr. I find the 55-200vr an outstanding walkabout lens. Best bang for the buck and cheap used.

I didn't vote for the Sigma 18-125 due to wide ranging quality issues. And trying to cram to much range in one lens means sacrificing image IQ and speed.

I recently bought my D5100 with the 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens and am pleased with both. Between the both lenses they cover the range I need for now.
