... frame. (Erm... well, isn't that the idea?)

Im with Lafoto. The first one with the frame has a larger color area that really helps to bring you in/ creates a main subject.

I concur, the frame adds a ton. I do, however, like the square cropping of the second. The square crop with a frame might be a terrific combination.
