Which would you rather have?

Would you rather have a new Canon Rebel XS, or a used Canon 20D? The one is new bottom-line, the other a last-generation prosumer.

Just asking for your opinion.

I had my XS for months, and have no urge to upgrade.

I'd probably go with the XS. It has a larger screen to view images and it also seems to have better software and technology (could be wrong). The best thing I would suggest would be to do some serious research and compare using what your primary shooting will be. Maybe look at the XSI too. That was actually what I was looking into for a first DSLR a while back. It's also a pretty good camera.

my thought is to get an XS and a 50mm. Maybe a flash. If I get the XSi, I don't know if I'll be able to get anything else.

I'd go with the 20D! I really want the 50D though. I am waiting for the 60D to come out so the 50D will go down.

i had an Xti and now own a 50D the image quality was night and day. Not sure about the 20D but i know a lense on my xti would have made the images i get with my 50D

I'd go with the 20D because it has a bigger, more robust body and upgrading to another serious amateur/enthusiast/prosumer body (40D, 50D) would be a easier transition than moving up from a beginner/entry level/consumer DSLR.
