I've played with the V1 before and thought it was nice but not worth the money (even after the price drops)... but when the J1 + kit lens dropped below the $150 mark it became an 'impulse buy' and i couldn't help but pull the trigger :)

I have absolutely no idea what i'm going to do with it.. I normally keep a 'disposable' Canon ELPH (300 HS) in my bag that i let little kids play with during sporting events (you'd be amazed at some of the good shots they've taken and it stops them from asking if they can use my 'big' camera). It may replace that.

Or i may just keep it in my car as a 'wow.. wish i had my camera with me' camera...
Or it may just end up in a drawer collecting dust..

I'll update this thread when i have my hands on it (tracking shows i should have it monday)... I've got state basketball play-offs, rugby pre-season exhibition games and possibly a few cheer competitions in the next two weeks. I'll take the J1 along and post some pic's :)

You were ripping a new one to Nikon for their mirrorless camera system. I guess the price changed your mind!

for $150 I would buy it too

Where did you find that deal?

I don't think i ripped on Nikons 1 system itself... but on their overall strategy. I've posted MANY times how impressed i was with the V1 when i played with it . I think i even started a thread saying how i was planning to buy a AW1 (that never showed up at my local camera shop).

Score for 150 Bucks! I bought a white J1 for my girlfriend with the 10-30 lens and the 10 f/2.8 lens. Think I was into it around $400 about 8 months ago. It's a fun little toy camera to have around. It takes decent video too. Put the 10 f/2.8 on it and it's great for chasing our 1 year old son around the house.

The J1 is a great camera for someone who likes to just shoot and not worry too much about all the photographic technical, but you do need to read parts of the manual. This camera is very good in bright light (white balance),

and in bright light the camera will focus more quickly than most cameras out there this very good for someone who likes to capture the moment. The Nikon 1 cameras are very good in both pictures and video too. I think there is one other mirrorless brand that does video as good as the Nikon 1 cameras.

I bought this for my wife and she loves it! The camera is easy to use and the pictures are sharp and clear. The telephoto lens is perfect long range shots during vacation etc.
