Why high ISO if high contrast wanted?

OK, is it totally necessary to use high (400-1000) ISO when taking a picture of a sunset? If i want the blacks to be black and the light bits to be light, is it enough just to use say 100-300 ISO? Thanks

use a tripod and low ISO (like 100 ISO) and a remote release. That's how the best sunset pictures i have seen have been done. It will stop you getting too much noise caused by high iso

Use the lowest iso possible and a tripod and a really small f/stop. You can make the blacks and whites better in photoshop

It also depends on the film, I have had very nice photos with blacks and whites clear and in contrast, as everybody else said your best bet in what ever ISO you use is a tripod, remote trigger or using the timer on your camera works too...
if you want the best quality go with the lowest ISO less grain.. but as allways its what you want out of your pictures....
